Aromatnaya is a heavy-cropping self-fertile quince, and a good choice for growing in sunny areas in the UK.
Although primarily a fruit for cooking with, Aromatnaya is also one of the few quinces that can be eaten raw. The fruits should be picked and then left to ripen for a few days, and have a tropical flavour, somewhat reminiscent of melon or pineapple. They add an unusual touch if grated thinly on to fruit salads.
