Shizuka, or Fragrant Cloud, is a Japanese blossom tree which bears large clusters of bright white semi-double flowers. The flowers have an enchanting fragrance.
In late autumn the leaves develop golden orange colours.
Shizuka grows quickly into a fairly large and impressive tree, with an upright spreading habit.

Prunus Shizuka is one of the Matsumae collection of Japanese flowering cherries, developed in the 1960s by Masatoshi Asari. It is also known as Matsumae-Shizuka, and sometimes as Prunus 'Fragrant Cloud' (which is an approximate translation of the Japanese word shizuka).
